Each week The Boys’ Brigade works with thousands of young people, in over 750 groups across the UK & Republic of Ireland and whilst being a Christian organisation, we cater for children and young people of all faiths or none. Each of our group aims to provide a balanced programme of activities for children and young people from 5 to 18 years old with our work split into age groups as follows:
Welcome to
The Boys’ Brigade, Leicestershire Battalion
We are one of the biggest Christian Youth Organisations in the UK & Republic of Ireland.
Who are we?
For children aged 5 to 8 years (School years R, 1, 2 & 3)
The emphasis for this age group is on fun and programme activities include games, crafts and stories. Throughout their time in the Anchor Section, children can gain badges and recognition from their participation in the programme.
For children aged 8 to 11 years (School years 4, 5 & 6)
Their fun and engaging programme enables children to work in a team and take more responsibility. Juniors may also get the opportunity to go on residential trips. Throughout their time in the Junior Section, children can gain badges and recognition from their participation in the programme.
For children aged 11 to 15 years (School years 7, 8 & 9)
Young people in this age group get the chance to develop existing skills and learn new ones, through a fun, balanced and challenging programme of activities. There may also be opportunities to go away on camps and residentials, which are often the highlights in the annual programme.
For young people aged 15 to 18 years (School years 10+)
Young people in this age group are encouraged to have more of a say in designing their own programme, supported by our volunteer leaders. Some groups will also run activities to enable the young people to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme.
Some of our groups cater for both boys and girls within these age ranges.
Our groups each run different activities, but generally there will be opportunities to learn new skills, take part in various games and physical activities, develop interests and for many of our groups, to join in residential events.
Mission & Vision
Mission: Our Mission explains what we do. We provide opportunities for children and young people to learn, grow and discover in a safe, fun and caring environment which is rooted in the Christian faith.
Vision: Our Vision explains why we do what we do and states that children and young people experience “life to the full.” (John 10:10). Our prayer and hope is that children and young people experience life to the full through coming to know Jesus for themselves.
