Battalion Snooker Competition Results

There was an entry of 16 Company Section members and 8 Senior Section members, representing the following companies: 5th Leicester, 8th Leicester, 22nd Leicester, 1st Hinckley and 1st Loughborough.

Thanks go to all of the members, officers and helpers that made the evening possible and also to the Alliance & Leicester for their generous grant, which made the purchase of two new snooker tables possible.

Results for the individual competitions are as follows:

Report on the Leaders Dedication Service

Held on Sunday 28 October 2007, at New Parks Methodist church, Major Bream and Mrs Bream were guests of the Battalion at the annual leaders dedication service.

22 officers and supporters were led in worship by the Battalion Chaplain, Mr Tony Simpson and the Rev Joseph Suray.

The Battalion officers present rededicated themselves to the Boys’ Brigade and reaffirmed their commitment to teach, nurture and care for the boys within the Leicestershire Battalion.

The monetary offering of £57 will be forwarded to the Brigade’s National appeal, for childrens hospices. Any money raised in Leicestershire will be directed to the Rainbows hospice in Loughborough.

After the sharing of Communion, refreshments were served to all.

Brigade Launches National Fundraising Initiative

A

The Brigade nationally has agreed to support the Association of Children’s Hospices as the Charity of the Year for 2007/08, to co-incide with BB125.

Here in Leicestershire, we would actively encourage all companies to get involved with this initiative, due to the link with the Rainbows hospice in Loughborough.

Assoc of Children’s Hospices

New District Name

As of 1 October 2007, the North Midland District (of which the Leicestershire Battalion forms part) has changed it’s name to become the ‘East Midlands District’. Any cheques payable to the District should continue to be made out to the old name, until further advised.

125 Year Celebration Event – Chatham Dockyard

An invitation has been received to a special celebration event to be held at Chatham Historic Dockyard Museum complex in Kent to celebrate 125 years of the Brigade. The event will take place on Saturday 31 May 2008.

Plans for Comapny Section Weekend Announced

Planning is underway to hold a Battalion weekend away at Blackwell Adventure Centre in Bromsgrove from 4-6 July 2008. This promises to be a great weekend of fun and activites. Please see the ‘Events’ section for further details.

Results from Snooker Competition

The results from the Battalion Snooker Competition held on 23 April at Epworth Hall Methodist Church:

There were five companies taking part: (5th Leicester, 8th Leicester, 22nd Leicester, 1st Hinckley, 1st Loughborough) with 19 Company boys and 8 Seniors.

The results were as follows:
